Country Manager – Iraq

About the role

This residential position is based in Basra, Iraq, leading CB&I Asset Solutions’ business development and operations for energy assets across the country. Fluency in Arabic is required.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end business development activities in Iraq, from opportunity identification through to contract award.
• Develop and execute the country’s growth strategy aligned with regional objectives.
• Build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities across IOC/NOC operators and government‑led projects.
• Identify market entry routes, including partnerships, joint‑venture structures and local alliances.
• Support proposals, bid strategy, pricing positioning and commercial negotiations.
• Act as primary interface with government ministries, regulatory bodies and national oil companies.
• Establish and oversee CB&I’s local presence in Iraq, including office setup and local partnerships.
• Provide local market insight, risk assessment and mitigation strategies to leadership.
• Lead HSE culture, emergency preparedness and operational risk management.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of country‑level strategies, in‑country operations and compliance with local laws.
• Strong management experience, including hiring and overseeing administrative/support staff.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with ability to engage multiple stakeholders.
• Proven leadership and team‑player track record.
• Ability to analyse market intelligence and make strategic recommendations.
• Fluency in Arabic is required.
