Climate and Environment Specialist

About the role

The Climate and Environment Specialist will provide technical supervision and back‑stopping to embed climate‑sensitive approaches across livelihood and economic reintegration activities for returning Iraqi nationals. The role supports three parallel tracks – cash‑for‑work, vocational training, and business support – while ensuring gender‑sensitive implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical supervision for climate‑sensitive integration of livelihood tracks for 933 beneficiaries.
• Conduct Climate‑Sensitive Community Needs Assessment and Green‑Economy Market Needs Assessment.
• Identify gender needs, protection gaps and coordinate awareness‑raising on gender equality.
• Travel to project sites in Anbar, Ninewa, Kirkuk and Salah al‑Din to ensure smooth delivery.
• Collaborate with the Project Manager and staff on gender analysis and employer engagement.
• Prepare progress reports and follow‑up documentation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in International Development Studies, Climate, Environment or Sustainability.
• Experience developing and using climate and environment assessment tools.
• Proven ability to deliver training and facilitate knowledge sharing.
• Familiarity with gender‑sensitive assessments and community engagement.
