Business Expert (National Position)

About the role

AVSI is seeking a Business Expert to provide coaching, mentorship and technical support to beneficiaries of business grant programmes across the country. The role combines field visits, business plan review and capacity‑building activities to help start‑ups and MSMEs succeed.

Key responsibilities

• Coach grant beneficiaries on business plan development, budgeting, financial forecasting and market analysis.
• Collect, review and give structured feedback on business and budget plans, ensuring compliance and completeness.
• Conduct regular field visits to monitor grant usage, business progress and operational status.
• Identify high‑risk or struggling businesses early and coordinate remedial actions with the project team, trainers, lawyers and technical staff.
• Maintain detailed records of visits, coaching sessions and update the beneficiary tracking system with status, indicators, challenges and risks.
• Support project activities such as trainings, assessments, data collection and the organization of business fairs, networking and pitching events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance or a related field.
• 3‑5 years of experience in business development, SME/MSME support or entrepreneurship programmes.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with NGOs or development projects.
• Strong understanding of business planning, financial management and local market dynamics.
