Rigger

About the role

The Rigger will perform specialized rigging tasks to support the installation, maintenance and inspection of power generation facilities and oilfield pumping units for GE Vernova’s Gas Power FieldCore team. Working under the direction of a crew chief or field supervisor, the role ensures safe movement of heavy loads in confined or restricted spaces.

Key responsibilities

• Signal or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure safety of personnel and equipment.
• Test rigging setups to verify safety and reliability before operation.
• Attach loads using appropriate rigging hardware such as slings, shackles, chokers and winches.
• Select and install gear based on load weight, size, facility constraints and work schedule.
• Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow openings or confined spaces using chain falls, gin poles, gallows frames and related equipment.
• Tilt, dip and turn suspended loads to maneuver around obstacles using multi‑point suspension techniques.
• Manipulate rigging lines, hoists and pulling gear to move or support heavy equipment.
• Attach pulleys and blocks to fixed overhead structures with bolts and clamps.
• Clean and dress machine surfaces and component parts as required.
• Dismantle, store and maintain rigging equipment after use.

Required profile

• Proven experience in industrial rigging and handling of heavy loads.
• Ability to follow strict safety procedures and signal crews effectively.
• Comfort working in confined spaces and at height.
• Capability to read and interpret rigging plans and load specifications.
• Willingness to perform additional duties that support the FieldCore vision and organizational values.

Required skills

• Use of hand tools and power tools for rigging tasks.
• Selection and use of slings, shackles, chokers and winches.
