MRC Counsellor (M1) - Migration Resource Centre

About the role

The MRC Counsellor (M1) works within the MRAPP project team, which is funded by the Government of the Netherlands and implemented by ICMPD in close coordination with the Ministry of Migration and Displacement and other stakeholders. The project strengthens migration prevention and improves access to migration-related information, counselling, referral and reintegration services in Iraq. The counsellor reports to the Project Manager and works closely with MRC staff, government counterparts and project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the MRC Coordinator to implement MRC activities and workplans, supporting communication, information and service delivery.
• Provide counselling, guidance, referral and information to clients (migrants, prospective or returning migrants, families of migrants) face-to-face, by phone and online, and follow up on referrals to relevant agencies.
• Organise outreach activities such as briefings in academic and training institutions, symposia with civil society, training of emigration consultancies, and booths or kiosks in public places; support media and social media outreach and keep the MRC website, database and social media pages updated.
• Research and map migration-related programmes and services, and prepare knowledge materials such as brochures, handbooks, audio-visual products and web documents.
• Assist the MRC Coordinator with workplan monitoring, reporting, client feedback, and documentation such as weekly, quarterly and annual reports, budgets and meeting minutes.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field; high school diploma with two additional years of relevant work experience may be accepted instead.
• At least 2 years of position-specific experience; experience with international organisations, office administration, and working with local authorities and businesses is an asset.
• Understanding of migration dynamics in the country and experience in the migration field.
• Proficiency in English and Arabic (verbal and written).

• Proficiency in standard IT tools.
• Solid organisational, planning and prioritising skills, and analytical thinking.
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and to make decisions in line with ICMPD's operational rules.
