Junior NOC Engineer

About the role

This full‑time, on‑site position is based in Al Jadriyah, Baghdad, working within Zain IQ's Network Operations Center (NOC) on a 24/7 rotating‑shift schedule. As a Level 0/Level 1 engineer, you will be the first line of network monitoring and incident detection.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor network elements across multiple tools and domains on a 24/7 rotating shift.
• Detect, acknowledge, and classify alarms promptly, adhering to SLA timeframes.
• Follow SOPs and runbooks for outages or alarms, handling tickets and escalations.
• Generate shift reports and ensure SLA targets are met.
• Perform routine health checks and proactive network monitoring.
• Raise high‑quality escalations to higher‑tier support and managed services partners with full incident context.
• Respond to Customer Care complaints, take first‑line actions, and follow up on requests.
• Coordinate with Incident Management and Problem Management teams, notifying key stakeholders per the escalation matrix.
• Notify the power team of any ROS interruption outside working hours.
• Complete structured shift handovers and prepare incident and shift reports for NOC leadership.

Required profile

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Foundational IT certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or ITIL Foundation; Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP ENCOR, CCNP ENARSI, CCNP Wireless) are a plus.
• Working knowledge of networking software, hardware, and common networking protocols.
• Familiarity with first‑line diagnostics and basic network troubleshooting.
• Analytical, problem‑solving abilities and strong written English for documentation.
• Willingness to work on a 24/7 rotating‑shift basis, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
