HSE Engineer – 24‑Month Contract

About the role

The HSE Engineer will support, monitor and verify compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements for the Bazian Power Plant expansion. Acting as the visible HSE representative on site, the role provides technical guidance, conducts inspections and ensures the HSE Management System is applied throughout the project.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor contractor and subcontractor activities for HSE compliance and legal regulations.
• Conduct routine HSE inspections, audits, site walk‑downs and verify Permit to Work (PTW) systems for high‑risk work.
• Review Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and risk assessments before work execution.
• Track unsafe conditions, observations and corrective actions; prepare daily and weekly HSE reports.
• Support incident, near‑miss investigations, root‑cause analysis and implementation of preventive actions.
• Review contractor HSE documentation (method statements, HSE plans, toolbox talks, lifting plans, emergency procedures) and ensure PPE, housekeeping and safe work practices are followed.
• Verify competency certificates for high‑risk activities and deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks and safety briefings.
• Assist in emergency response planning, drills and evaluate evacuation, first‑aid and fire protection readiness.
• Coordinate with HSE teams, project management and operational departments; participate in HSE meetings and progress reviews.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Occupational Health & Safety or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH or ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (preferred).
• 3–5 years of HSE experience in EPC, construction, power‑plant or oil & gas sectors, with at least 3 years in an industrial environment.
• Familiarity with ISO, OHSAS and local HSE regulations.
