Canine Handler – Guard (Baghdad, Iraq)

About the role

The Canine Handler – Guard will work on‑ and off‑compound in Baghdad, Iraq, providing explosive detection support using trained detection dogs. Training, travel, furnished housing and a pre‑deployment course are included.

Key responsibilities

• Perform daily maintenance and performance training for explosive detection dogs.
• Maintain accurate training records for each assigned dog.
• Ensure the health, welfare and emergency first‑aid for the dogs.
• Maintain all canine‑related equipment and supplies.
• Support security operations by conducting on‑site detection missions.

Required profile

• U.S. citizen, at least 21 years old, fluent in English.
• Clean driving record with a valid driver’s license.
• Secret Security Clearance and NAPWDA (or equivalent) certification.
• Minimum two years recent experience as a dog handler, kennel master or trainer.
• At least one additional year of security‑related experience.
• Ability to pass medical, physical, drug and psychological examinations.
