Appliance Technician Lead

About the role

The Appliance Technician Lead is based in Iraq supporting the LOGCAP program. Reporting to the Appliance Technician Supervisor or Manager, you will lead a team of technicians who install, service, and repair a range of household and commercial appliances.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise installation, servicing, and repair of stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, washers, dryers and other electrical appliances.
• Connect appliances to power sources and use test meters (wattmeter, ammeter, voltmeter, ohmmeter) to monitor performance.
• Diagnose issues by observing vibration, overheating, fluid leaks, and loose parts during operating cycles.
• Disassemble appliances to inspect mechanical and electrical components, locate shorts and grounds, and replace defective parts such as switches, pumps, bearings, belts, gears, blowers, and wiring.
• Calibrate timers and thermostats, adjust contact points, clean parts with wire brushes, buffers, and solvents, and lubricate moving components.
• Lead the team in adhering to manufacturers' specifications, wiring diagrams, and safety standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; additional education may substitute for experience.
• Minimum four years of civilian or military experience in commercial appliance repair.
• Valid host‑country driver’s license.
• Ability to communicate technical information effectively in English, both written and verbal.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools and specialized test equipment.
• Reading and interpreting wiring diagrams.
• Use of wattmeter, ammeter, voltmeter and ohmmeter.
• Calibration of timers and thermostats.
• Cleaning with wire brushes, buffers and solvents.
• Repair and replacement of switches, pumps, bearings, transmissions, belts, gears, blowers, wiring, and appliance motors.
• Lubrication of moving parts and adjustment of pulleys.
